FAQs - Doula Support

How is a doula different from a midwife?

A doula provides emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum—but doesn’t offer medical care. A midwife focuses on the clinical side of birth, ensuring the safety of you and your baby, while I’m there to support you and your overall birth experience.

Can I still benefit from a doula if I plan a hospital birth or want an epidural?

Absolutely. My role is to support your choices—whatever they are. Whether you're planning a hospital birth, induction, or want pain relief, I’m there to help you feel calm, informed, and in control. Especially when you're outside the comfort of your home, having someone familiar by your side can make all the difference.

Will a doula replace my partner in the birth room?

Not at all. I am there to support both of you. I help your partner feel confident and involved, and together we create a strong team to support you during birth.

When should I book a doula?

The earlier the better—ideally in your second trimester. This gives us time to build a connection, prepare for birth together, and ensure availability around your due date.
